Many companies, while sometimes requiring the breadth of expertise a big firm can provide, frequently forego crucial legal services because of the high hourly rates charged by these firms. These same cost structures make it difficult (and also unprofitable) for experienced attorneys at large firms to spend the time required to gain an in-depth understanding of their clients' businesses and legal service needs. As a result, legal services are becoming increasingly reactive rather than proactive. Company Counsel offers an innovative solution that enables clients to obtain cost-effective legal and business counsel from an experienced attorney, while allowing them to maintain their existing law firm relationships.
Our pricing structure is determined on a case-by-case basis, but generally falls into one of the three following categories:
Hourly Fee Plan
Clients are charged on a per hour basis for services provided. Typically, our hourly rate is less than half of the hourly rate charged by large Boston law firms for the services of similarly experienced attorneys.
Project Fee Plan
Clients are charged a flat fee for specific projects that we undertake on their behalf with the fee to be determined prior to undertaking such projects.
Fixed Fee Plan
Clients are charged a fixed weekly or monthly fee for all services we perform. To determine this fee, we discuss with our clients their anticipated legal service needs. We then determine the scope of the work to be provided and set an appropriate fee for these services. Clients who choose to hire us on a fixed fee plan will be able to effectively budget for their foreseeable legal expenses and be given a significant discount over our hourly rates charged for work performed under an hourly fee plan.
Expenses
Whether a client chooses an hourly fee plan or a fixed fee plan, all of our incidental expenses (subject to exceptions for non-ordinary course expenses such as major photocopying jobs, long-distance travel or overnight stays) such as photocopies, phone and fax charges and local travel expenses are all rolled into our fee and clients are not billed separately for these items.
