Sean Abbott is a founder and Principal of Company Counsel. He has extensive experience in the areas of business and commercial law, corporate law, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions and secured transactions. He has advised emerging and established private companies as well as public companies on a variety of business matters including general corporate matters, structuring, negotiating and closing acquisitions, private equity financings, loan transactions, licensing agreements, commercial contracts and employee compensation arrangements. In addition, he has represented commercial lenders and private equity funds, including Small Business Investment Companies, in numerous debt and equity financings and has counseled private equity funds on fund formation, transaction structure and exit strategy.

Sean participates in the Merrimack Valley Venture Forum, the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies and in the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations. Prior to founding Company Counsel, Sean practiced at Keegan, Werlin & Pabian and Hutchins, Wheeler & Dittmar, both in Boston, and at Harris, Beach, & Wilcox, in New York.

He received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Syracuse University and his Bachelor of Arts from Mount Allison University. Sean is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and New York.
